I want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, captions or reduced motion.
The standard I work to
The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. This is a goal, not a certification; the site hasn't been audited by a third party yet.
What's in place
- If your device asks for reduced motion, animation turns off and the opening sequence shows its final frame.
- The site works with a keyboard alone. Focus is always visible, and every page has a "Skip to content" link.
- Headlines set as images or brush lettering also exist as real text for screen readers.
- Informative images have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Body text aims for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 and reflows when you zoom to 200%.
- Form fields have labels, required fields are marked, and status messages are announced.
- The silent video loops have no sound, so they carry no spoken content. Full episodes on YouTube have captions.
Known limitations
- Some collage images contain decorative text (for example, illustrative headline clippings) that isn't read aloud because it isn't meant as content.
- Parts of the page use scroll-linked motion. Turning on reduced motion in your device settings switches it off.
- Third-party platforms I link to (YouTube, LinkedIn, Spotify) have their own accessibility, which I don't control.
Tell me what doesn't work
If something on this site is hard to use, or you need any content in another format, email yann@forbreakfast.club with "Accessibility" in the subject. Tell me the page and the problem. I'll reply within five working days and fix what I can, or get you the information another way.
